Abhishek Gerard Francis is a Filmmaker based out of Chennai and Bangalore, India. Having spent a major part of his early life shuffling across borders and studying in different schools, Abhishek was exposed to a wide variety of people from different walks of life, and found himself searching for what truly connects these people together.

With a background in technical education, he pursued an undergraduate degree in Engineering (Electronics and Communication) from Manipal University, Manipal. Despite always being a vivid cinema watcher and lover, it was only during his time at university that Abhishek realized the potential cinema possesses as a medium to connect cultures, inspire, show multiple perspectives and broaden the minds of people collectively. It is this power of cinema, to cause a meaningful discussion on topics otherwise impossible to articulate, that drew Abhishek towards choosing filmmaking as his profession.

 

After completing a course in film direction from LV Prasad Film and TV Academy, Chennai, Abhishek plunged himself into writing, directing and editing short narratives which got him recognition at film festivals and also helped him secure a feature film project as an Associate Director. Over the next 2 years, he was the ‘right hand’ to multiple directors on advertisements, short narratives, and 2 feature films, while also simultaneously shooting promotional videos and corporate films on his own accord. Abhishek initially turned towards shooting advertisement films to sustain himself, but soon learnt that advertising is also a powerful medium, principally because of its capacity to sharply engage the viewer for a short period of time and its potential to be circulated to the intended audience with precision. Apart from television commercials, he has also written the screenplays to two full length feature films and one web series. He is in active discussions to execute and present them soon.
